#29faces starts again today :) #Art

Today is February first and while others might have the super bowl or thoughts of Valentine’s Day approaching…I’m excited to start 29 faces again.:)

Because I did okay with 30 ACEO challenge and the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge last month but horribly at posting what I worked on-I will update about that soon.

This was my first face for February:

It’s called Red and a tribute to Red Riding Hood.

I’m part of a selling ACEOs on Ebay  group on Facebook and we were challenged to make a card that portrayed our favorite childhood stories. I had many favorites growing up but for the challenge I went with Red.

I always thought she had a heck of a lot of spunk for a kid who’s grandma just got eaten by a wolf. (Just sayin.)

I’m having trouble making buttons show up on my sidebar for some reason but you can find out more about 29 faces and the artists taking part by clicking this one:

Caterina,woman,cat morphed painting

I’ve been enjoying everyone’s work immensely as I go along. And getting inspired too! If you noticed my clown lady from an earlier post then you might have remembered the Smile art journal page that I made for day 12. That is because when I made that cartoon character based Nicci’s design I really wanted to play around with making a more realistic clown right after.

I spotted some fabulous animal morphed humans on Minerva Levinston’s blog and felt inspired to make an animal morphed human face too.

I painted this:

I like her and may do more in the future. This was a really, really fun one to do!
She is on 9 x 12 watercolor paper ,painted with acrylics and water colors.
I’m also thinking on what I’ll be creating for an art show,Women painting Women and for a Facebook art collective auction called Twisted Ruby Red Slippers Artist Collective where myself and loads of fantastic artists will have artwork up for auction towards the end of October. I’m really hoping I can create something good, wish me luck!

My literary men,#29faces 30paintings

Time doesn’t want to stand still for me. Personally I think that’s rude but- whatever.

I have faces/paintings 13 and 14 to share though. They aren’t finished,Poe needs pen work for the text and The Bard needs…just a lot still.

I’m a day behind but just to be painting daily or almost daily(I skipped the 11th) is a big thing for me! This has been a great experience and I thank Leslie Saeta and Ayala Arts for the motivation to do it.

The Countess 10 of #29faces,30 paintings

It’s been fun making cards this month. I’m part of a group on Facebook called ATC swapilicious and ACEO and they always have a theme we can chose to use in case we’d like some inspiration. The past couple of days have been ABC themed, thus my A is for Alien princess,B is for A “beary” sad girl.

Today’s painting is C is for Countess.

IMG_6122I’m still debating within myself as to whether it’s an ATC or ACEO but I should know soon. (ATCs are made to trade with others ACEOs are made in order to sell.) I had been planning to make a gallery on here of ATCs that are up for trade but I’m in limbo right now-I want a self hosted site and then I don’t. I love the community here but I run into issues with my widgets. I like the easy access to other blogs but I’m not crazy about the web address when I’m telling people where they can find me. I’ve run into similar issues with selling my stuff as well. I want to go through eBay because I like the idea of letting my art go for whatever bid it fetches but my husband has had issues with eBay before so he’s against that route. I love etsy but I’m unsure how to price things.

Sometimes you just have to do what you feel in your gut is right though. And I’m ready to just take a leap now I think.

The Countess

And in case these posts have felt a little women and girl heavy,I do plan on working on a few male faces next.

A step towards Pop Surrealism, 7 of #29faces,30 paintings

I almost didn’t get to write this today…Sundays go by very fast! I did work on a painting today though so I thought I’d go ahead and share it.

I love Mark Ryden’s paintings and the work of Jasmine Beckett Griffith. I also know that big eyed girls are all over the place right now, mostly because of these two artists.(I feel like they are taking what Margaret Keane started and taking it to the next level.)
I still love this style and I dabble in it sometimes.
I didn’t get to finish this but I will work on it as I go as I did with Frida. I’ll share completed paintings after these 30 days in case you are interested in how they turned out.:)
This is “Candy Girl”and was painted with acrylics and watercolors. It’s 9 x 12 on watercolor paper.
I still have a long way to go on this I think but I like the face so far.

Wanted to share the update for “Candy Girl”

She is available for sale,$30,5 s&h please email me at artlovelife at gmail.com if you are interested. *Watermark is not on the original.

Frida painting,#5 of #29faces 30paintings/30 days

Today’s painting is an 8×10 Frida on watercolor paper.she was painted with acrylics.
She is not finished yet but I plan to finish her in the next few days as I work on the other paintings.

I’m not finding the painting every day to be too challenging but I do have a moments when I freak because I know things might not get finished…I’m letting that go though! The prerogative is for me to make time to paint every day not for me to always complete all that I start in one day.
It’s a good thing to remember I think.

Sharing this with Leslie Saeta’s 30 paintings in 30 days
And AyalaArt’s 29 faces. 🙂
