SugarPlum Fairy ACEO

Day two of the 30 ACEO in 30 day challenge.

If you can’t tell that I really like challenges than let me just say that I do,I really like challenges. It’s not really incentive to do something that makes them interesting to me it’s seeing what others do with the same prompt. I mentioned that this particular challenge is to make 30 holiday themed ACEOs in 30 days and all of the artists participating are making very cool cards for the challenge. Penny Stewart has decided to do a Nutcracker theme, not The Nutcracker just Nutcrackers in general. Gaylene Allen has decided to go with a candy theme and Joy Redington of Spreading Joy through Art  has chosen not to go with a theme besides the Christmas one. You can see all of the cards for this challenge here.

Update on Fairy painting, art for sale

I’ve been holding off on painting until I get things a little more organized around here but…I finally just gave in a worked on a few things today.

The thing is I was feeling miserable because I wanted to paint and I wasn’t getting much done. Better to paint and then work on messes I think!

Slow progress,I love watercolors but they get moody pretty quickly if you try to rush them!:)

I’ve started a new challenge…

I want to work in my art journal every day.
This isn’t a mandate or anything-
It’s just that I plan on working on things that will take me longer than a day to complete and I think it’s good to also have smaller projects that keep me from getting frustrated, things that don’t have to be “perfect” (whatever that is!)
I’ve joined a 30 day art journal group that Nicci Battilana is hosting for October. Every day she posts a prompt and we can use it for out art journals and then post our work.

Today’s prompt was to draw an interesting mailbox, our dream mailbox ,if you will…and I’m not giving the prompt anywhere near it’s due so please check her post out here.

I am running behind today- my mom had a doctors appt. that we took her to and then I had to go grocery shopping, pay mortgage-do assorted errands, pick up the kids- do homework, dinner, bath time …spend time chatting with fantastic friends on Facebook ,you know-life!
I’m okay with being a day behind though -I started my page anyway, so I’m really not bothered.

You might wonder what a little scarecrow girl has to do with a dream mailbox and to be honest…I’m wondering about that myself. I guess just wanted her on there somewhere because it’s the first day of October!
Let’s find out where this goes come tomorrow shall we? 🙂

Last post for September 29 faces 2014

I made it through 29 faces! I have all of the faces I made for this challenge here on this grid collage:

29 faces Collage
faces I forgot to add

If you want to look at each face/post individually you can do that here.

I really enjoyed myself. Ayala always suggests that we do something that challenges us and this year my challenge was to paint each of the 29 faces. I didn’t quite do that in the end but I did get very, very close.:)

I look forward to getting caught up with the artists who took part in this now. I have visited now and then this last month but not as much as I’d like to do. Somehow I find it really hard  to keep up during challenges like this which is unfortunate but I do hope to get better at that. I think I just need to schedule my time better!

Thank you for coming by!

Fairy watercolor painting

I really, really want to get better at doing watercolors. That is going to take practice and patience….I’m not great when it comes to patience. 🙂
I’m trying.

This is a fairy watercolor,I did use a little white acrylic in places as well-the wings were fading into the background so I wanted to lighten them. This is 9×12 on watercolor paper. Linking this to Leslie Saeta’s 30 paintings in 30 days as painting number 23,which is way more paintings then I did last month. (Behind but still going!)
Thanks for coming by!

The Countess 10 of #29faces,30 paintings

It’s been fun making cards this month. I’m part of a group on Facebook called ATC swapilicious and ACEO and they always have a theme we can chose to use in case we’d like some inspiration. The past couple of days have been ABC themed, thus my A is for Alien princess,B is for A “beary” sad girl.

Today’s painting is C is for Countess.

IMG_6122I’m still debating within myself as to whether it’s an ATC or ACEO but I should know soon. (ATCs are made to trade with others ACEOs are made in order to sell.) I had been planning to make a gallery on here of ATCs that are up for trade but I’m in limbo right now-I want a self hosted site and then I don’t. I love the community here but I run into issues with my widgets. I like the easy access to other blogs but I’m not crazy about the web address when I’m telling people where they can find me. I’ve run into similar issues with selling my stuff as well. I want to go through eBay because I like the idea of letting my art go for whatever bid it fetches but my husband has had issues with eBay before so he’s against that route. I love etsy but I’m unsure how to price things.

Sometimes you just have to do what you feel in your gut is right though. And I’m ready to just take a leap now I think.

And in case these posts have felt a little women and girl heavy,I do plan on working on a few male faces next.

Starry Eyed Girl

This title might not make sense at the moment but it relates to the stars that I plan to add to this lady’s shirt…so the picture I’m sharing today is not a finished product yet but what I had to share today.

Starry EyedThis is an 8 x 10 mixed media piece on water color painting. I used collage elements and painted it with acrylics and water colors.

I have been posting these very late but I hope to get in the swing of things better as I go along.

Sharing this with Leslie Saeta’s 30 paintings in 30 days and

Ayala Art’s 29 faces. 🙂
